“Obscured from view by the thick, impenetrable Mildaark Forest lies the verdant land of Hobbleshire, an oasis in the sea of darkness that surrounds it. The rolling green hills and the crop filled fields are maintained and populated by the Halflings or "the Little Folk", a race of diminutive humanoids, most no more than hip height to a normal man. As well as their short stature, the average Halfling is characterised by his large, hairy and unshod feet, his merry features and his undying love for the good things in life, most famously his passion for good food and ale. Because of this, plus the fertility of the soil of Hobbleshire, almost every citizen is well fed, happy and content with his lot. However, if not protected by the great Forest, it would be vulnerable to attack by the endless hordes of cut throats and monsters that roam the land beyond the Mildaark, and the Grand Duke of Hobbleshire is becoming more and more cautious that some of them may find their way through. To counteract the ever increasing threat of attack, each town has recruited a local Militia, a rag-tag band of farmers and labourers from the surrounding area and supplied with weapons and uniforms. Although diminutive in stature, this is made up for by the courage and determination of these creatures, willing to sacrifice their lives for the protection of all that they hold dear.”
