“Willibald Proutfoot is a prosperous mill owner, and a well known and respected figure in his home town of Dryfield, in the East of Hobbleshire. As well as maintaining the upkeep of his mill, he is also a prominent member of the Dryfield Town Council, but also fulfills his duty as Captain of the Militia. The roles of the Captain are various and many, he trains the volunteers, he provides them with weapons and uniform, and ultimately turns them into proper soldiers. It is common for particularly good Captains to have some previous military experience, either from being in the Militia themselves for an extended period of time, or from adventures outside the protection of the Mildaark forest. These individuals are rare however, as Halflings are naturally suspicious of foreigners, and rarely travel far from their fields and homes. Those who do travel to darker places and live to return back to their villages, albeit with more scars and possibly less limbs than before, are seen as folk heroes amongst their fellow Halflings, and are treated with reverence and respect. Proutfoot is one of these travelers, spending a great part of his youth as a sword-for-hire, returning back to his home of Dryfield to start a family and a respectable business with the proceeds of his previous life of skullduggery and misadventure.”
